Vasana Sampatha

Introduced in 1994, Vasana Sampatha quickly made its way in the minds and hearts of Sri Lanka lottery players.

The game is one of the National Lotteries Board (NLB) lotteries, which means it’s a reputable and well-known opportunity to win some cash.

After its successful launch, Vasana Sampatha experienced a couple of changes. Because of its popularity, the number of weekly drawings was increased. The prize structure was also modified a couple of times to give players the high amounts that they are entitled to today.

If you want to give Vasana Sampatha a try, you will need to master just a couple of basic rules. There’s nothing overly complicated, and Vasana Sampatha is pretty similar to all other games of luck that appeal to players in Sri Lanka.

Vasana Sampatha: How to Play

Originally, Vasana Sampatha had only a monthly drawing that took place in several Sri Lankan districts. In time, however, the format and the gameplay structure were changed to make the opportunity more frequently available.

There was another exciting change. Initially, Vasana Sampatha only offered prizes in the form of items like motorcycles, cars, and appliances. Eventually, cash prizes were added to make Vasana Sampatha more reminiscent of other lotteries.

Currently, there are two Vasana Sampatha drawings per week – on Monday and Thursday.

For a chance to win a prize, players have to choose four numbers in the range from one to 73, plus a letter from the English alphabet. To win the top prize, players have to match both the four digits and the letter selected on the specific day of the week.

One Vasana Sampatha ticket costs 20 rupees. Players can decide whether they’re going to select their numbers or if they will opt for the quick pick gameplay option. In the event of a quick pick, the software at the retail venue will generate a random ticket on behalf of the player.

Anyone can acquire their NLB Vasana Sampatha ticket from an authorized retail venue. The network of retailers covers entire Sri Lanka, and you can find more information about the offices on the official National Lotteries Board website.

Players are not restricted only to Sri Lankan citizens. Foreigners who are residing legally on the territory of the country can also play all of the NLB and the DLB games and claim prizes in the event of winning.

Currently, there are no opportunities for online lottery ticket buying in Sri Lanka. If you want to give Vasana Sampatha a try, you will have to be on the territory of the country, and you’ll have to visit one of the retail venues there. Online lottery agencies do not carry games from Sri Lanka at the time, but this could eventually change in the future.

Vasana Sampatha Prizes and Payouts

While the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic lasts, Sri Lanka has stopped lottery drawings. There is currently no information about when the drawings are going to be resumed. The same applies to the payment of prizes because the retail venues and the payout centers do not work with clients at the time being.

Vasana Sampatha is a pretty lucrative game to play.

Apart from the jackpot, eight additional prize tiers give players access to smaller rewards.

Vasana Sampatha comes with a minimum guaranteed jackpot of 10 million rupees. If there’s no winner for the respective drawing, the sum will roll over towards the next one. As a result, the NLB Vasana Sampatha can contribute to the accumulation of some pretty lucrative prizes.

The latest big prize that fell reached slightly over 21 million rupees before one lucky Sri Lankan became a millionaire.

For a chance to win the jackpot, the player has to choose the four correct numbers and the correct letter. While the odds of this happening aren’t the best ones, the top payout justifies playing Vasana Sampatha responsibly.

The second prize tier belongs to those who match four of the winning numbers. These players will still become millionaires and get one million rupees. The third prize can be won by matching three numbers and the winning letter. The payout is 100,000 rupees.

There are two ways to win the lowest prize tier of 20 rupees. In that instance, a player will have to match only one of the numbers or the winning letter for the drawing.

NLB does not provide information on its website about how players can claim a prize in the event of winning. There are also no details about the prize claim timeframe, after which the award is going to expire. Players can use the NLB telephone hotline to find out more about the procedure and the documents they’ll need to present to make a prize claim (usually, the winning ticket, an ID, and a prize claim form will be required).

Typically, smaller prizes can be claimed at any of the authorized retail venues, and the payout is going to be immediate. For more substantial sums, players will have to visit the NLB headquarters. It’s also important to keep in mind that the anonymity of jackpot winners is not protected in Sri Lanka.
